Strength Training is one of the Most Important things you can do in life! a note from Moo Owner of Bodyfix, Christchurch Gym

Some days it just makes no sense 🤷‍♀️🧐 Why don’t people understand? No matter how much we say it day in and day out.  There are proven studies that we all need to be doing strength training. So why is it that people just can’t get their head around it. 🤷‍♀️

Most of us who are over 20 were born in an era where the first thing we were told to do was go to a cardio based class. I remember going to my first Step Aerobics Class at 16  thinking learning and knowing; Cardio RULES! 🤦‍♀️

But it doesn’t rule alone no it doesn’t! It needs Strength to stand by its side and give us the gift of total fitness.💛

If you knew that a certain type of exercise could benefit your heart………..

➡️ Improve your balance

➡️ Strengthen your bones, reduce the risk of osteoporosis

➡️ keeps Boosts our energy & improves our mood

➡️ Help you lose weight & increases our metabolism to burn more calories

➡️ Make you look &nfeel better, stronger and fitter

➡️ Helps with chronic disease management

Why would any of us want to give up strength training in our programs?

None of us want to be injured right?

But the short version is we stand a much higher chance of actually avoiding injury if we are strong, flexible and well balanced.

There is no point being super flexible if your muscles do not have the strength to maintain the joint structure.

Also a fact. This is one reason why people can be much more prone to injury because their muscles and connective tissue are weak because they are never stimulated. (Through Strength and Resistance Training)

Injury comes to every single one of us at some time or another. Learning how to lift properly with great technique will minimise the risk of any injury occurring from your workout. 💪

Is it that we don’t understand the benefits? Cardio is what we all turn to because it’s that mindset we are all in. We must do cardio to lose weight. The more we do the better it is for us? But NO that is not true. We all know that we need to do cardio to have a healthy heart and lungs but we need that strength training for the rest!

So with all that said, focusing on just one thing is not good for our bodies for all the reasons above.

The Body needs consistency, variety and in the number spot, Strength Training and that, our friends, is our secret. 💛
