5 ways to help you combat lack of motivation when you have that “can’t be bothered” feeling and keep fit.

Have you ever had ‘I know I need to exercise but can’t be bothered’ feeling? We have all been there… sometimes for a day, sometimes for a week, sometimes for a year.

  • I’m too busy
  • It’s too far to go
  • It’s too cold
  • It’s too hot
  • Can’t be bothered
  • I’m too tired
  • My friend isn’t going so I won’t
  • I’ll just do something tomorrow (tomorrow comes nope still sitting there)
  • I am sure we could come up with another 100 reasons and insert them in here.

Avoid getting stuck an unmotivated rut.

Yip we all have those days where we have good intentions to work out, eat right, drink enough water & get enough sleep but life just gets In the way. It is hard to stay motivated all the time…and we want you to know that it is actually normal to have times when you feel like this.

But where we get into trouble is when that feeling takes over and it becomes more of the normal feeling.

5 ways to help you combat lack of motivation when you have that “can’t be bothered” feeling and keep fit.

Below are 3 tips to help you combat the “Can’t Be Bothered Feeling”

1. Never Miss A Monday

Exercising on a Monday sets the tone and psychological pattern for your week. If you skip exercising on Monday, it’s much easier to skip exercising on Tuesday, which can quickly become, “Well, I already missed a day. Bugger it I’ll start fresh next week and so on!” Momentum can work for you, but it will also work against you… if you let it.

2. Never Feel Guilty about “You Time.”

Schedule your workouts for a time that’s convenient, and don’t give in to the temptation of filling that time up with anything else. We are always asked about the best time to exercise, and we would say that it depends on what’s most realistic given your day. Remember your health is a priority, yes the kids need us, yes that work needs to get done, the housework needs doing BUT none of that matters if we are sick and can’t think or function clearly. We all want our kids and family to be healthy so it needs to start with us – set the example!

3. Book a meeting with yourself and Plan your workouts.

Schedule your workouts into your diary just like a meeting. If someone wants to steal your “you time” simply tell them you have another appointment. After all, if you do not look after yourself? Who else will? Tip: Download our free weekly fitness planner and plan your workouts for a week. If you build a routine its a great way to build the habit, so working out becomes auto piolet and you look forward to that dopamine hit from exercising.

4. Set a pre-workout ritual.

Brew a strong coffee, pump the rocket soundtrack and get your brain in gear for a killer workout. Sometimes changing your state, can be as simple as putting on a motivational tune and getting your brain ready for the workout ahead.

5. Exercise for Life

I’m asked a lot ‘what are you exercising for?’ and for me the answer is easy. I exercise or life! I exercise to feel good, to stay fit & healthy. It is good for the mind & it helps me to think clearly. And lastly, I exercise to set a good example for my friends & family and most of all my daughter!  Exercise is the most reliable source to reduce stress in our lives, yip it is actually Exercise is the key to energy, mobility, and happiness; it’s critically important for health and can make the difference between a good day and a great day. We might not always feel like exercising… but we would all admit once it is over we are always pleased we did it!
